ARCANA 231 represents Hale’s latest series with Liber 231 particularly the 44 sigils exploring the duplex releationship between the 22 sigils of the genii from Liber XXII Dominarvm Mercvrii cvm svis Geniis and Liber XXII Carcerorvm Qilphoth cvm svis Geniis which are associated with the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Bio Hale is an outspoken member of the OTO, Ordo Templi Orientis. He has exhibited extensively with Stephen Romano Gallery over the past few years, beginning with the exhibition “Opus Hypnagogia” at the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn in 2015, as well as “Saint Bowie”, a tribute exhibition to the late David Bowie, “Magia Sexualis” which Barry co-curated with Romano and was named one of the best “occulture” events of the year In 2018 Barry participated in the acclaimed Tasmanian DARK MOFO festival in the exhibition “Invisible House”, as well as the SCOPE ART FAIR again with Stephen Romano Gallery, and many group exhibitions world wide. Notably, Barry was included in the landmark survey of esoteric art “THE LANGUAGE OF BIRDS”, curated by Pamela Grossman at the 80W Gallery New York University in 2016. Other important exhibition include CODEX 231 Art Folio Fuglur in 2014, the Australian touring exhibition WINDOWS TO THE SACRED., I:MAGE Fulgur Esoterica, at the Store Street Gallery, London, U.K. in 2013 among many other. Barry's artistic engagement with Liber 231 was originally inspired from a note from Crowley on an alternative circular way to arrange the sigils from Liber 231. ince that time Liber 231 has continued to be a magical and aritistic inspiration. Three initial artworks lead to the production of an exhibition of 33 artworks exhibited at the Horse Hospital London and a series of 11 large paintings exhibited in Sydney and Melbourne. Eleven of the Horse Hospital series would later become CODEX 231 art folio published by Fulgur Esoterica.
